    Susan Rice Tag

On Obama's last day in office, January 20, 2017, National Security Advisor Susan Rice wrote an email memo to herself (pdf.) regarding the investigation into Michael Flynn and a January 5, 2017, meeting attended by Obama, Biden, Rice, Sally Yates, and James Comey. The email was mostly public previously, though supposedly classified portions were redacted.

The Obama administration was stuffed to the gills with unsavory characters, but one that stands out above most others is Susan Rice. And now she's hinted that she might consider running against Senator Susan Collins (R-ME). As we've covered here at LI, Rice has been at the center of far too many Obama-era scandals. From lying about the cause of the Benghazi compound attack that left four men, including an American ambassador dead, to lying about the deserter Bowe Bergdahl having "served with honor and distinction, to unmasking Trump campaign officials, Rice was front and center.

An excerpt from Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump reveals an explosive claim against former National Security Advisor Susan Rice. She supposedly told the White House cyber team, who planned to fight back against Russian meddling when the evidence mounted, to stand down.

Republican Senators Grassley and Graham sent a request for clarification to former Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice last week. In the request, the Senators posed 12 questions, all centered around one email Rice sent to herself on inauguration day, in the final moments of her tenure in the White House. The committee came across the email during their ongoing investigation into the FBI/Steele Dossier cluster.

It seems ages ago, but was just a couple of months ago that controversy swirled around former National Security Advisor Susan Rice's "unmasking" of names from classified intelligence reports. We reported on the inconsistencies in Rice's story on April 3, Susan Rice unmasked? Previously said “I know nothing about” Nunes allegations, and the following day on her interview by Andrea Mitchell, Susan Rice: Sought unmasking but “absolutely not for any political purpose”:

Following revelations that Susan Rice sought the unmasking of Americans purportedly caught up in incidental surveillance, Rice is on Congress' short list of persons to testify on Russian hacking.  She has, through her attorney, declined Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC)'s request to do so. CNN reports:
Obama's former national security adviser, on Wednesday declined Sen. Lindsey Graham's request to participate in a judiciary subcommittee hearing next week on Russian interference in the US election, CNN has learned.

On Tuesday, almost 60 people died in Syria when warplanes dropped bombs filled with chemicals. Many suspected President Bashar al-Assad's regime for the attack. Many survivors went to Turkey and the Turkish Health Ministry announced that preliminary tests showed the poison in the bombs was sarin. Well, former President Barack Obama's national security advisor Susan Rice said in January that the administration forced Assad's regime to purge its chemical weapons.
