    Can we finally STOP taking Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff seriously? Of all people, Morning Joe's Mika Brzezinski finally brought the arrogant man down a peg or two over his comments on US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley. From The Washington Examiner:
    "I’m gonna go as far as to say that you might be having a fun time, playing a little game dancing around this," Brzezinski said, "but you're slurring a woman. It’s disgraceful"

    Sunday's Grammy Awards proved once again that the American entertainment industry is increasingly disconnected from the people they're meant to entertain. As part of the show, artists read excerpts from Michael Wolff's 'Fire and Fury', an anti-Trump book. 'Fire and Fury', a problematic work (the veracity of which Wolff himself is unsure) blew up the news cycle prior to its release several weeks ago.

    Last Thursday, the United Nations (UN) voted to condemn America's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and decision to move its embassy to the city. Professor Jacobson pointed out in a follow up post that the vote gave President Donald Trump to turn that loss into a win with money. The UN loves to crap on America, even though we host the UN and contribute a ton of money into the organization that has basically become useless. That is exactly what Trump has done: $285 million budget cut to the UN. There may be more cuts to come, too.

    The UN General Assembly voted by a margin of 128-9-35 to condemn Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and eventually to relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem. The vote is non-binding, but is being cheered in many quarters. American liberals are loving it, because it is viewed as a loss for Trump. And any loss for Trump, even if it's an anti-US loss, is okay with the media Resistance.

    The UN General Assembly is meeting this morning on a resolution that, without mentioning the U.S. by name, condemns Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and plan to relocate the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at some future point. The resolution also demands a return to the so-called 1967 lines (which actually are the 1949 Armistice lines), which would put the main Jewish holy sites and the Jewish Quarter in the hands of Palestinians. General Assembly Resolutions are not binding under UN Rules and do not create international law. U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley, backed up by Donald Trump, has promised that the U.S. and Trump take this vote personally, and will be "taking names," as detailed in our prior post, Nikki Haley: “US will be taking names” during General Assembly vote on Jerusalem Embassy move.

    The Palestinians, true to form, have decided to try to internationalize their dispute with Donald Trump over Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. A resolution in the Security Council contained diplomatic wording that did not mention the U.S. by name, but was the equivalent of demanding the U.S. reverse its decision. The U.S. vetoed the resolution, in a 14-1 vote, with US Ambassador Nikki Haley issuing this warning:

    Nikki Haley certainly has raised her public profile as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and with good reason. Haley has become a very effective public face of Trump's U.S. diplomacy, in many ways overshadowing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at least in terms of public exposure. What this means in terms of Haley's political future is uncertain. But with Governor and UN Ambassador on her resume, and being in front of the cameras as much as she is, it has to make her a contender for either higher national office (Secretary of State?) or VP nominee at some point in the future. I don't think she yet has what it would take politically to mount a presidential campaign, but who knows in 2024. From the beginning of her service, Haley has attacked the UN's profound bias against Israel.

    Will President Donald Trump certify the Iran nuclear deal made under former President Barack Obama? That may not happen now since U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has accused Russia of protecting Iran from nuclear inspections that are crucial to the deal. From Fox News:
    U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley indicated Thursday that Russia was shielding Iran by blocking the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from verifying part of the deal. The IAEA initially revealed the news to a reporter in a Q&A. Meanwhile, under a requirement from Congress, Trump must choose whether to certify the deal by October 15.

    US United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley told the Security Council that North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un "is begging for war" after the latest nuclear test in the hermit kingdom. "Despite our efforts, the North Korea nuclear program is more advanced and more dangerous than ever," she explained. "War is never something the United States wants. We don't want it now. But our country's patience is not unlimited."

    While President Donald Trump was holding a joint news conference with Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein describing his new approach to Syria and Syrian president Bashar al-Assad after suspected chemical attacks killed dozens of civilians, United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley was at a Security Council meeting blasting Russia over its support of the regime.     Last week the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), a group comprised entirely of Arab countries, issued a report accusing Israel of practicing apartheid against the Palestinians. Having a U.N. group make such an accusation was considered a major propaganda win for the anti-Israel movement. As discussed below, the report was authored by people with longstanding anti-Israel records. The report was so disgraceful in content and so obviously political in motive that by Friday the Secretary General of the UN had first disassociated himself from the report and then asked that it removed from the ESCWA's website. Also on Friday, Rima Khalaf, the Jordanian head of ESCWA resigned. Nikki Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., is credited by many as working to negate this anti-Israel move. This may be a sign of a new U.S. assertiveness at the U.N.
