Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign, struggling with its low standing in the polls and underwhelming fundraising, slashed the salaries of senior staffers amid the departure of its top communications aide. The salary reductions took place over the past few weeks, according to multiple Republican sources familiar with the Huckabee campaign's operations. The reductions were limited to senior staff, according to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the candidate's daughter and campaign manager.
Reports that Governor Mike Huckabee considering running for President in 2016 so tonight is his last show on Fox News http://t.co/0fABz2yh1a — Greta Van Susteren (@greta) January 4, 2015Huckabee issued the following statement:
Governor Mike Huckabee will announce tonight on his Fox News show that he is leaving the network after six-and-a-half years as the host of "Huckabee." To close out his final show, Gov. Huckabee said: "Tonight I will do more than just say goodnight. I will say goodbye. This is the last edition of 'Huckabee' on the Fox News Channel. It's been the ride of a lifetime, and I have never had so much fun in my life. But I also realize that God hasn't put me on earth just to have a good time or to make a good living, but rather has put me on earth to try to make a good life. "There has been a great deal of speculation as to whether I would run for President. If I were willing to absolutely rule that out, I could keep doing this show. But I can't make such a declaration. I won't make a decision about running until late in the spring of 2015, but the continued chatter has put Fox News into a position that is not fair to them nor is it possible for me to openly determine political and financial support to justify a race. The honorable thing to do at this point is to end my tenure here at Fox. As much as I have loved doing the show, I cannot bring myself to rule out another Presidential run. So as we say in television, stay tuned!"So what do you think? Should he run?
Mike Huckabee was going to be the hammer used by anti-Rush Limbaugh forces both competitive and political to unseat Limbaugh once and for all. During the height of the anti-Rush fever, I highlighted how Cumulus Media sought to leverage the anti-Limbaugh boycotts by holding Huckabee out as...
I have posted before how Cumulus Broadcasting, cheered on by Rush boycotters, is setting up Mike Huckabee to challenge Rush. Jeffrey Lord has the story how Huckabee Show Opens With Staged Caller: Wow. As we often say here: you just can't make it up. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee took...
Two days ago Mike Huckabee denied calling Mitt Romney dishonest because of the negative attacks run by Romney, and asked Newt to take down an ad featuring Huckabee calling Romney dishonest because Huckabee denied what was on the video even though it was on the...
What is going on in the Republican Party? Mike Huckabee claims that Newt is using a clip from Huckabee in 2008 out of context because Huckabee was not referring to Mitt Romney, but in fact Huckabee obviously was referring to Romney. Here's the video of Huckabee voicing...
Mitt Romney's key debate line of late is that Newt resigned in disgrace over ethics charges. It's even featured in the most recent Romney advertisement (not his SuperPAC) running in Florida. I posted links the other day showing that the charges against Newt were political and that...
I was wondering when someone would bring out the Mike Huckabee line from the 2008 campaign, when he was attacked by Romney much the way Romney attacked Newt in this election cycle. Romney always starts it. He did it in Iowa in December 2007 against Huckabee...
Things have been ugly on the airwaves in Iowa, and the recipient of those ads is going to start giving some of the ugly back. It's unfortunate that it has come to this, but it fits a pattern which goes back to Iowa in the 2008...
I had not heard this story before, but then again, I didn't pay much attention to the Republican primaries in 2008: In 2008 it was uncovered long after the primaries had been concluded that the Romney campaign staff had in unethical and covert ways infiltrated prominent conservative...
I posted yesterday about Ed Rollins being the latest of the "I knew Reagan" types to use a variation on Lloyd Bentsen's "You're no Jack Kennedy" line against Sarah Palin.Rollins was Mike Huckabee's campaign manager in the 2008 cycle, and guess who Rollins thought was the...
