New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo is trying so hard to deflect blame away from him after so many elderly people died in nursing homes from the Wuhan coronavirus. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator (CMS) Seema Verma said Cuomo cannot blame Trump for forcing nursing homes to take in coronavirus patients because it goes against federal guidelines.

Today's update features New York's former senator and 2016's losing presidential candidate. Despite the staggering number of nursing home deaths as a result of the gubernatorial lockdown rules, Hillary Clinton praised New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's response to the coronavirus pandemic in a Memorial Day tweet.

HoganWillig is a multi-office law firm in western New York State. Among its practice areas is real estate closings, which enabled it to obtain designation from the state as an "essential" business even under Andrew Cuomo's coronavirus lockdown orders. The firm also has gained expertise in advising businesses how to weather the coronavirus regulatory storm, and now finds itself in the center of one of those storms as the New York Attorney General's Office has been threatening the firm over its continued real estate operations, claiming the firm was not complying with Cuomo's Orders. The firm is fighting back with a federal court lawsuit.

Thousands of health care workers headed Cuomo's call for help and volunteered to go to New York to help amid the COVID-19 pandemic. New York was hit particularly hard. Now, those that spent more than 14 days in the Empire State will be required to pay state income tax, even if they're being paid by entities in other states for their work in New York.
