“I welcome his support. His advocacy for ensuring that healthcare is a human right in this country … is necessary, is appreciated.”

Back in 2017, Ossoff ran—and lost—the most expensive House campaign in history for Georgia’s 6th district.  At the time, anti-Trump MSNBC host Joe Scarborough decried Ossoff as a “Bernie Sanders socialist.”  He was not wrong.

On Saturday, Bernie tweeted his support for Ossoff in the upcoming Georgia special election for the U. S. Senate.

On Sunday, Ossoff, who has never held any elected office, declared that he welcomed the support of socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders and enthused about Bernie’s advocacy for economy-crushing, socialized medicine.

As Democrats lunge ever leftward, they embrace highly debatable concepts that are antithetical to America’s founding principles.  The socialist (/communist) idea that the government must provide health insurance or, the big Bernie dream, “access” to a government-run health care system to everyone as a basic “human right” is at the top of that list.

Ossoff’s embrace of his inner Bernie Bro did not go unnoticed by Ossoff opponent Republican Sen. David Perdue’s campaign.

    The Washington Free Beacon reports:

Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff said he welcomes socialist senator Bernie Sanders’s (I., Vt.) support in the state’s upcoming Senate runoff election.

“I welcome his support,” Ossoff said during a Sunday CNN appearance. “Again, look, I think that his advocacy for ensuring that health care is a human right in this country … is welcome, is necessary, is appreciated. And so is his support.”

Ossoff’s praise for Sanders could undermine the Georgia Democrat’s ability to distance himself from the far-left senator’s progressive policies. Ossoff has repeatedly claimed he does not support Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, both of which Sanders has championed.

Ossoff’s comments came one day after Sanders endorsed the Georgia Democrat in his bid to unseat Republican senator David Perdue. Perdue’s campaign accused Ossoff of “casually praising radical socialists and their dangerous agendas.”

“[Ossoff] thinks the elimination of private health insurance and taking coverage away from millions of Georgians is worthy of admiration,” Perdue spokesman John Burke said in a statement. “Ossoff isn’t hiding his radicalism, he’s telling us who he really is. We should believe him.”

I believe him.  Whether or not Georgia’s right-leaning and moderate voters believe him and vote accordingly on January 5 remains to be seen.

Maybe. However, the evidence indicates the problem is progressive prices, not costs.
