Norwegian Official Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize for Israel-UAE Deal

Norwegian Parliament Member Christian Tybring-Gjedde nominated President Donald Trump for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Tybring-Gjedde said he is not a Trump fan, but he did something while “Barack Obama did nothing.”
President Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace prize almost 300 days into his first administration even though he had done nothing but float ideas and proposals:
“I’m not a big Trump supporter,” he said. “The committee should look at the facts and judge him on the facts – not on the way he behaves sometimes. The people who have received the Peace Prize in recent years have done much less than Donald Trump. For example, Barack Obama did nothing.”
Tybring-Gjedde praised the peace deal between the UAE and Israel:
“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde, a four-term member of Parliament who also serves as chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told Fox News in an exclusive interview.
Tybring-Gjedde, in his nomination letter to the Nobel Committee, said the Trump administration has played a key role in the establishment of relations between Israel and the UAE. “As it is expected other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could be a game changer that will turn the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity,” he wrote.
The Norwegian also mentioned how Trump has been active in trying to bring peace between North and South Korea, India and China, and bringing home troops from the Middle East:
Also cited in the letter was the president’s “key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and … creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea.”
Tybring-Gjedde, further, praised Trump for withdrawing a large number of troops from the Middle East. “Indeed, Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States into an international armed conflict. The last president to avoid doing so was Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter,” he wrote.
Tybring-Gjedde nominated Trump in 2018 after his Singapore conference with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
The U.S., Israel, and UAE spent 18 months working on a peace deal. It’s the first of its kind in 20 years between Israel and an Arab nation. Fears of a nuclear and belligerent Iran helped bring the two countries together.
A direct commercial flight happened from Tel Aviv to the UAE for the first time after they signed the deal. UAE also dropped its Israeli boycott.

Obama may have been handed the award 300 days into his presidency, but he was nominated for it 12 days in (Feb 2009). So many achievements in those 12 days!
The prize is a joke! Too many unworthy recipients have diminished its value.
“Barack Obama did nothing.”
That may have been true before he was nominated for the Peace Prize. But after he was awarded it, he launched three wars.
For Obama it was a participation trophy.
But for Trump if he wins it it would actually be a merit based award.
