Democrats About-Face, Are Suddenly in Favor of Reopening Schools
Maybe the Democrats should phone their teacher union allies and let them know that refusing to educate students while making political demands is not scoring them any political points.

Well, well, well.
Finally, after months of criticizing Trump for the same suggestion, Democrats have come round and endorsed the CDC’s recommendation that schools should reopen.
This would be hilarious if they weren’t so horrendously shameless.

There’s only one explanation for the gaslighting — advocating for endless shutdowns and school closures is killing them politically and is going to tank funding to some of their most loyal donors and supporters — unions.

Yes, just like Trump suggested.

You know this is coming:
Now, everyone is suppose to act like they never took that position and the media will gaslight everyone on it that it was Trump that really wanted no school this year. Just watch lol

And this too. This is the route we’ve decided is best for our family for the foreseeable future:
My guess is that they're looking at the #s and see parents choosing alternate methods of schooling – private, homeschools, microschools. The decreasing amount of students = less $ public schools are receive. The change of heart is to get parents to go back to the "free" option.

If we tax hair plugs and botox, congress alone could fund education
Teacher unions would be useless. School systems would be shuttered. Alternative learning sources would have to be funded bypassing both. And….the mega-billion dollar Department of Education would lose all of its power of the purse.
Yes there would be the quick high from the Covid money but that would go away leaving a hangover that never ends.
That can all go straight to hell. Who needs this shit?
I have read endless comments about teacher’s unions and how they have screwed up education. In right to work states where there are no unions the test scores are even worse than union states. Maybe parents should also accept some degree of responsibility for their children’s education and not dump everything on the public schools. Covid or no Covid the anger towards teachers isn’t always justified. My children went through the public schools and they are doing just fine. It always takes involved parents to educate their children.
True, just like good cops and bad cops. Money isn’t the answer but involved parents really help and if they have to pay themselves for their child’s education, they have a much better chance to get involved; when it is “free” money (tax dollars) then they don’t care as much. Look how a child treats a parent’s home, car, you name it but when they live on there own, they don’t beat stuff up as much. (well, in most cases…some kids just never grow up). I wonder why it is ok to de-fund the police but not the teachers then? With more children home all the time small towns will need more police on duty and longer hours and that costs too. So no school, move some of that money over to the police then.
Teachers are as trapped in the government monopoly bureaucratic public school system as the students. After a while, some of them end up as lifers who gave up caring.
The other problem, as you point out, is parents pursuing their own desires at the expense of their children. Tempered hedonism is the secular religion of the public schools which “educated” todays parents.
