Democrats Using Crisis to Advance Progressive Agenda

“a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision”

It is increasingly obvious that Democrats see an upside to the Coronavirus crisis, and naturally it is all about politics and power. How do we know this? They keep saying it out loud.

You may recall that old quote from Rahm Emanuel about not wasting a crisis. According to Brainy Quote, this is what he said in full:

You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.

Democrats have obviously taken that message to heart.

Collin Anderson writes at the Washington Free Beacon:

Rep. James Clyburn, Who Touted Coronavirus As ‘Tremendous’ Political Opportunity, to Take Helm of Pandemic Oversight Committee

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) announced the formation of a new coronavirus oversight committee led by House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.), who last month said the pandemic gives Democrats “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”

The speaker’s announcement on Thursday comes as her caucus plots another relief package, with a national vote-by-mail requirement as a top priority. Pelosi faced criticism in March after stalling the then-proposed stimulus bill in favor of her own version, which included increased fuel emissions standards for airlines, an expansion of wind and solar credits, and vote-by-mail provisions. President Donald Trump called the Democrat’s proposal “crazy.”

Over in California, Governor Gavin Newsom is echoing James Clyburn.

Michael Ruiz reports at FOX News:

California’s Newsom says coronavirus provides ‘opportunity’ to push progressive agenda

California Gov. Gavin Newsom sees an “opportunity” to use the coronavirus outbreak to usher in new progressive policies in his state and elsewhere in the country, he said Wednesday.

“Absolutely, we see this as an opportunity reshape the way we do business and how we govern,” he said during a virtual press conference.

The remark came near the end of a long, winding answer to a question about whether he saw “the potential” in the crisis for “a new progressive era” in state and national politics.

    See the video below:

This crisis is not about implementing a progressive vision, but it’s very telling that so many Democrats seem to see it that way.

Perhaps the needs of the American people should come first. Just a thought.

I would use the quote that’s getting overused but this goes back to the founding of the Fabian society over 120 years ago. Reheat the world to reform it in our image

Isn’t this similar to or almost a direct quote from an Alinsky rule?

What’s funny and sad is that Alinsky’s rules are not just for radicals…they are for anyone in the common era of mudslinging politics because there is little to no good faith between factions for a common goal at the end of the tunnel.

What they really are is a recipe for outright civil war because nothing can get done without bitter costs to both sides who no longer can see similar shared ends, even in the distance. Using these devious tactics, employed by all of these “ends justify the means” Alisnky cultists we have nowhere to go but down.

I’ve been saying this for years. For the left, everything must serve the revolution. EVERYTHING.

Serving the revolution (which changes daily. Never mind that) is the definition of being a good person. Failing to serve it is an indication of moral weakness. Obstructing it is the definition of evil.

So their exploitation of a catastrophe to advance their own agenda is no surprise. It’s what they believe they are supposed to do. If they didn’t, it would be something to be ashamed of (to them).

Strange isn’t it – the liberals see the crisis as opportunity to advance their power base and progressive agenda – conservatives see it as opportunity to increase their arsenal.

People who are buying guns during this pandemic are protective of their lives and their families. They are not necessaily politically conservative.

The “opportunity” is how it is verboten to criticize our scientific “experts” who relied on bad data from China to so easily persuade us that closing down our economy interminably is the ONLY option. That “opportunity” only exists because we insist on being lulled into the same comfort of ignorance that eventually kills the boiling frogs. Sh-h-h-h-h!!! You can’t say that!
