Trump Addressed Nation on Wuhan Coronavirus Pandemic
Trump Tweet: “I am fully prepared to use the full power of the Federal Government to deal with our current challenge of the CoronaVirus!”
President Donald Trump addressed the nation from the Oval Office on the Wuhan coronavirus.
The U.S. Capitol suspended tours. Washington, D.C. declared a state emergency. The NCAA announced that the tournament will go on without spectators. The Houston rodeo closed down. The Seattle Mariners will not begin the season at home.
America has over 1,000 cases of the Wuhan coronavirus.

President Trump signed a memorandum directing his cabinet to make general-use face masks available to health care workers, while the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a letter on an authorization to make available millions of general-use respirators to health care workers.
“President Trump is focused on the health of the American people, and so his administration has taken action to provide protection to manufacturers that will enable production of millions of additional masks for our healthcare providers,” the White House said in a statement.
Trump also told reporters that officials “had been discussing ‘various forms’ of economic stimulus to counteract the effects of the outbreak.” He did not provide any hints or details about his speech tonight.

Trump did make some pretty bad goofs in the speech, which have since been corrected.
1. Trade will not be affected. In the speech he clearly said imports from Europe will be barred. That made no sense, since the viruses on the surface of the goods won’t survive the length of the voyage. Now he’s tweeted that the bad affects only people, not goods.
2. Travel from Europe banned? Not quite. Only Schengen countries.
3. All US nationals, US residents, and their families will be allowed in.
In other words, as usual we should ignore what Trump says and focus on what he does. Because no matter what he says, he usually does the right thing.
Concerning the US citizens, I think Trump did indicate that there would be exceptions or special conditions for US citizens & legal residents. I assume that means a quarantine period.
I think most people were still picking their jaws off the floor from the European travel ban that they didn’t hear the next sentence on exemptions.

“To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days. The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight. These restrictions will be adjusted subject to conditions on the ground.
There will be exemptions for Americans who have undergone appropriate screenings,”

Yes, but it turns out those exemptions cover all US citizens, all US resident aliens, and their families.
