Rick Perry to Resign as Energy Secretary
Perry has been planning to leave his post for quite some time
Thursday, Energy Secretary Rick Perry informed Trump he would soon resign from his post, reports Bloomberg.
More from Bloomberg:
Energy Secretary Rick Perry notified President Donald Trump Thursday that he will soon be leaving the post, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Perry, one of the administration’s original cabinet secretaries, enjoyed good rapport with Trump. The former Texas governor has recently come under scrutiny in the House impeachment inquiry over his discussions with Ukraine.
Perry’s departure date is unclear. The people familiar requested anonymity to discuss information before it is made public.
Shaylyn Hynes, an Energy Department spokeswoman, declined to comment.
Perry had been planning his departure from the agency well before the Ukraine controversy became the subject of an impeachment query in the House.
A few weeks ago, Politico prematurely reported Perry was resigning, a report he later rebuffed.
Last week, House Democrats subpoenaed Secretary Perry as part of their impeachment theater.

Prof was on Tucker tonight. I only caught you towards the end I think – taking down Liz Warren.
Good job, sir!
Was hoping to find it rebroadcast on youtube, but it’s not there. Anyone have a link?
Who is Rick Perry?/s
Rick Perry is the man who was Secretary of Energy when America achieved functional energy independence.
Only California is still importing Middle Eastern Oil. And, that is only because they refuse to build a pipeline to Texas.
You REALLY have to be on your game to work for Donald Trump. In other words, you have to have the same 20 hour work schedule. No slam to Rick Perry, but he probably isn’t cast well, considering.
During the 2016 campaign, you could tell that Rick Perry was already at the “put your feet up on the desk and coast” stage of his career. He’s done everything he ever really wanted to do; when he comes back to Texas he’ll take a position as Emiritus something at one of the Universities (Probably A&M, his alma mater) and then his job will just be going to nice dinners and football games on the weekends. And I think that’ll suit him just fine.
He’s the Aggie governor of the state of Texas that passed the bill so illegals now get to pay in-state Tuition at state colleges.
