Baylor University Sending ‘Equity Officer’ to Investigate Conservative Group Hosting Ben Shapiro

“Gamma Alpha Ypsilon (GAY), an unofficial gay rights student group, is responsible for pushing the university to hold meetings about campus speakers”

Isn’t it funny how liberal student groups never have to deal with things like this? It always goes in only one direction.

    The Washington Examiner reports:

University sending ‘equity officer’ to investigate conservative group over Ben Shapiro speech

Baylor University, a Baptist university in Texas, has arranged to have an “equity officer” investigate the motivations behind Young Americans for Freedom’s decision to host conservative commentator Ben Shapiro on campus in November.

According to a press release from the Baylor chapter of YAF, Gamma Alpha Ypsilon (GAY), an unofficial gay rights student group, is responsible for pushing the university to hold meetings about campus speakers. GAY was denied official charter status earlier this year following a May decision by the Board of Regents to uphold a ban on “advocacy groups which promote understandings of sexuality that are contrary to biblical teaching.”

The Baylor chapter of YAF claimed that the school’s president, Dr. Linda Livingstone, approached GAY to say that she was on its side — a contradiction of the ruling by the Board of Regents. Shortly after this meeting, YAF says, they were contacted by the school’s director of student activities to arrange meetings with GAY.

YAF Chair Zachary Miller said he was told the meetings would be “co-facilitated” by Brittney Wardlaw, Baylor’s manager of equity and civil rights. According to the faculty profile for Wardlaw, she “conducts investigations for claims related to discrimination and harassment around protected characteristics such as gender, race, ethnicity, disability, and veteran status. She also educates faculty, staff, and students on topics including implicit bias, explicit bias, and diversity.”

It’s not all about you , gamma alpha whatever’s.
Ben Shapiro doesn’t care what you do in the privacy of your own home, as he’s repeatedly said. As a practicing Jew, he believes gay sex is a sin, but he also believes adultery and a few other things are sins and has no intent to institute a Jewish version of Muslim sharia law.

The reason YAF invited him to speak is because, he’s a popular speaker (just not so much among the censorship crowd), he’s an effective speaker, he’s an entertaining speaker, and the fact that inviting him puts a hair up the noses of Liberal censors who want to win arguments by forbidding them is just a bonus.

It is ridiculous of BAYLOR UNIVERISTY to predtend that Ben Shapiro requires “investigtion.” They are that comfortable bulllying people whose opinions they do not share. It’s just a matater of tiime before they decide to round us up. All I can say is, 2nd Amendment.

Sad day for Baylor. This will be incredibly chilling against free speech. It may violate federal directives in this regard.
