Manafort Sentenced to 47 Months in Prison

But not for anything having to do with Russian collusion

Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign chair was sentenced to 47 months in prison Thursday evening. Prosecutors requested 19-24 years.

    From USA Today:

Paul Manafort, the former chairman of President Donald Trump’s campaign, was sentenced Thursday to nearly fouryears in federal prison for cheating banks and the government out of millions of dollars.

The prison sentence marks the end ofa stunning downfall for the longtime political operative who helped elect four Republican presidents, including Trump. He is among a half-dozen people in Trump’s orbit who have been charged as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible cooperation with the Trump campaign.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis, who had been critical of Mueller’s prosecutors, imposed the sentence Thursday afternoon in a federal court outside Washington.

Manafort, who used his illicit fortune to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of expensive suits, arrived to hear his sentence in a green jail jumpsuit emblazoned on the back with the words “Alexandria inmate.” He entered the packed federal courtroom in a wheelchair and holding a cane.

Manafort said he was “humiliated and ashamed” by his new circumstances.

A jury convicted Manafort of eight charges, including bank and tax fraud, after a three-week trial last summer. The case, as well as a related one in Washington, stem from his work as a political consultant in Ukraine before he joined Trump’s campaign in 2016.

Before he announced the sentence, Ellis made a point of stressing that Manafort “is not before the court on anything having to do with collusion with the Russian government.”

    Professor Jacobson covered Manafort’s conviction:

MANAFORT VERDICT: Guilty on 8 Counts, Mistrial on 10 Others

    What about time served

Good question! And will he have the option for good behavior to reduce the sentence too. I hope so.

What really irks me is that Mr. Weiner who thinks underage girls are fair game got only 21 months. And he is a lot younger at age 54 and was 52 or so when sentenced.

The left is going ballistic over how light the sentence is. But, he is 69. Four years could still be a death sentence as far as I am concerned.

He should have only be given two at the most.

Doesn’t matter. Every little leftist snowflake thinks that this is all about Trump stealing the election, and nothing you can say will change his/her mind.

Can someone explain why the Libs hate Manafort so much for Dollar crimes? Hilly & Billy have used over 300+ Million dollars in their foundation. It is a slush fund for them to travel on private planes and stay in Fancy Hotels. When are the Clintons going to be sentenced for their dollar crimes? Is AG Barr going after them, I hope? Libs are so evil thinking Manafort should have gotten more time in jail. He was a grand old man, now in a wheelchair in Isolation! I feel so badly for him and his wife. They are older. He will likely die in prison over money!

I’m sure the left wing Obama judge will stick it to Manafort as much as she can. The narrative in the snowflake media is still that Russian collusion existed, and stole the 2016 election. It just hasn’t been proven yet after 2 years of digging through every trash bin they could find. But proof is always just around the next corner.

He got more time than Eric Clanton.
Professor Eric Clanton will receive only three years of probation — in addition to four days he previously served in jail — after reportedly bludgeoning at least seven people, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The investigation into Professor Eric Clanton is one of the most impressive feats of citizen journalism in the digital age. Users of that delightfully devilish site 4Chan looked at images of the bike lock attacker’s facial structure, clothing, and backpack straps and matched them up with those of Eric Clanton.

Police arrested Clanton about a month later and the professor was charged with a simple battery misdemeanor, a felony for causing great bodily injury, three felony assaults with a deadly weapon, and another misdemeanor for wearing a mask to avoid getting identified while committing a crime.

Wow it’s almost like he committed a victimless crime! 19 – 24 years? Seriously? There are murders that get less time for cripes sake!
