On January 23, Pelosi and Trump exchanged contentious letters about the SOTU, which was scheduled for January 29. Trump told Pelosi that he planned to honor her original invitation to deliver the speech on that date in the House chamber.
Pelosi snapped that he will not have the ability to deliver the SOTU on the House floor during the shutdown.
After hours of media speculating Trump’s next move, he tweeted at 11:12PM ET on January 23 that he decided not to hold the SOTU during the shutdown.

Any particular reason why it can’t be Jan 29th?
Because if it’s the 29th, Trump wins and Nancy can’t play her little fuck-fuck power games.
