Rand Paul on Political Climate: ‘I really worry someone is going to be killed’

“I fear that there’s going to be an assassination”

Senator Rand Paul was harassed by anti-Kavanaugh protesters in a D.C. airport last week. His wife Kelley wrote an op-ed for CNN claiming she now sleeps with a loaded weapon at her bedside.

Where is all of this headed? Paul was frank in a recent interview.

Gregg Re of FOX News has the story:

Rand Paul warns of ‘assassination’ peril after Kavanaugh confirmation: ‘I really worry someone is going to be killed’

Following the bitterly partisan, acrimonious confirmation battle over Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., warned in an interview on Tuesday that heated political rhetoric has the potential to turn deadly.

“I fear that there’s going to be an assassination,” Paul told a Kentucky radio show. “I really worry that somebody is going to be killed, and that those who are ratcheting up the conversation … they have to realize they bear some responsibility if this elevates to violence.”

Paul’s wife, Kelley, revealed in a Breitbart News interview on Friday that she sleeps with a “loaded gun by my bed,” has updated her home’s security system and has “deadbolts all around my house.” Kelley also wrote an op-ed published by CNN in which she called on Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., to tone down his rhetoric; in June, Booker suggested his supporters “get up in the face of congresspeople.”

The Kentucky senator reiterated his wife’s criticism on Tuesday. “When people like Cory Booker say get up in their face … What he doesn’t realize is that for every 1,000 persons who want to get up in your face, one of them is going to be unstable enough to commit violence,” Paul said.

You can listen to the audio of the interview below. Just skip to the 9:40 mark:

Kelley Paul recently appeared on FOX News @Night to discuss this issue:

The left has become the dangerous and violent mob Democrats and the media falsely accused the Tea Party of being back in 2010.

Strangely, those voices are nowhere to be found today.

I worry less about an assassination attempt on a public figure than I do one of these Mobs cornering the wrong person and puts them in reasonable fear of their life. Some deranged lefty is going to catch a bullet in the ass and then all hell is going to break loose.

That’s actually the Alinskyite strategy. Push harder and harder with this “I’m not touching you” strategy until they provoke a violent reaction, and then use that reaction as the excuse to suppress and retaliate.

People who say things like “our side has all the guns” are ignoring the politicization of the senior military leadership and the militarization of police forces across America. It’s going to be a much closer run thing than the right is anticipating.

I’m sure Steve Scalise agrees. The fascists seem to be alive and well on left, and no form of intimidation is out of bounds. It is a truly scary time in America, and we don’t need people like Hillary and Mad Max trying to stir up the mobs.

Politicians and the media created this climate. I don’t want anyone to get killed … but it wouldn’t surprise me. You can only push people so far.

…but it should be added that you can only push people who consent to being pushed to some degree.

For instance, one can resist The Resistance in a number of ways that are not reactive.
