McConnell Files to End Kavanaugh Debate, Confirmation Vote Possible Saturday

McConnell Files to End Kavanaugh Debate, Confirmation Vote Possible Saturday

Procedural vote will occur on Friday.

Late Friday night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed cloture to end the debate on Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

This filing will set up a procedural vote on Friday and a possible confirmation vote on Saturday.

    Roll Call explains:

Under Senate rules, the key vote on McConnell’s cloture motion will take place one hour after the Senate convenes Friday. The Republicans needed to get the motion to limit debate before the end of the calendar day Wednesday to allow the Friday vote.

If all goes according to plan, the vote will take place one day after senators get a chance to review supplemental background information from an FBI inquiry into allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh.

If McConnell musters a majority of senators to vote to limit debate on Kavanaugh, there would then be up to 30 hours of debate, meaning the final vote on confirmation would most likely come on Saturday.

McConnell had said Wednesday morning that senators supporting Kavanaugh would not be deterred from voting this week by protesters in the Senate hallways.

“Procedural vote.” Uh-huh. A deceptive simulation of progress. Or even of mere consciousness.

I wonder how tedious the Senate procedure is for getting out of the building in case of a fire. And if a committee has to vote on it first.

Liberals declare Monday has been marginalized and disenfranchised. Demand Saturday and Sunday be moved to follow next Friday.

Wait a second, here’s proof that Judge Kavanaugh is anti=woman.

In 3rd grade, the judge pulled the pigtails of the girl sitting in front of him. Isn’t that sexist?

Send the FBI to that school for confirmation.
