Dick Cheney – New Report on CIA Deeply Flawed

“They didn’t bother to interview key people involved in the program.”

Senator Mitch McConnell has characterized the new CIA report on “torture” as a last ditch effort by outgoing Democrats to stick their thumb in the eye of the George W. Bush administration and of course, he’s right.

Where were all these Democrats when Obama was pulverizing suspected terrorists into dust with drones if they happened to be on his personal kill list? It’s convenient for Obama to kill terrorists with drones because they’re enemy combatants he’ll never have to place in Gitmo.

Vice President Dick Cheney was interviewed by Bret Baier on FOX News Wednesday night and was asked about the highly partisan CIA “torture” report. He didn’t hold back:

Dick Cheney understands something Obama will never get. People want to know the truth, no matter how ugly it is.

    Devin Dwyer of ABC News:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney Says CIA Torture Report Is ‘Full of Crap’

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says a declassified Senate report on the controversial post-9/11 CIA interrogation program is “full of crap.”

“I think it is a terrible report, deeply flawed,” Cheney said on Fox News, his first televised interview since the report’s release. “It’s a classic example of where politicians get together and throw professionals under the bus.”

Cheney said he had not read the entire 6,000-page classified document, drafted by Democrats and their staffs on the Senate Intelligence Committee, or the 500-page declassified and redacted executive summary. But he unequivocally said its findings were flawed and an affront to members of the CIA.

“The notion that the agency was operating on a rogue basis was just a flat out lie,” Cheney said.

He insisted the so-called enhanced interrogation techniques were all legally justified and inconsistent with “torture,” though he conceded that the practice of “rectal rehydration” mentioned in the report, “was not one of the authorized or approved techniques.”

My heart just weeps for terrorists who were forced to endure “rectal rehydration.”

Pity they were too incapacitated by an enema to kill more Americans.

This is why there should never be a lame duck session of congress. When you are voted out of office, you are out that day. Period. Computer access shut off by IT. Clean out your desk and leave the premises.

You are now a citizen that gets to live with the laws and mess you created. Welcome to my world.

Is anybody here surprised in any way when Darth Cheney sticks up for EIT? Heck, he has a different heart than the one he was born with and he still hasn’t changed even a little.

You don’t have to agree with him to admire his steel spine.

Bush and Cheney never watched a video. Not during the overseas conflicts and not during the progression of the financial crisis. I wonder who Obama will sacrifice in order to save himself this time. How will he relieve his “burden”?

Saw Cheney uinterviewed by Brett Baier. How refreshing to see him state his views, defend his views, and stick by them no matter what. Rare commodity to see in politics anymore in any pol with anything to lose.

I agree with Anchovy. In the case of the presidency, there is reason for a delay in taking office after the election. Cabinet members must be selected, a team assembled. But, for Congress and the Senate, it would make great sense to swear in the new members as soon as the states certify their election (those in recount might be delayed) and send the representatives and senators voted out home immediately. Otherwise, they, the relics of a past election, get to exercise power largely without responsibility. Lame duck congresses are dangerous, so are lame duck presidents who have been repudiated by the electorate. We are seeing that now as Obama becomes more imperial with his phone and a pen, ignoring the message the voters just sent.
