It’s getting really hard to tell whether news is an April Fools’ joke

    Saw this on Twitter.

From Meredith Jessup of The Blaze:

    Surely she jests?

The article from The Independent in Britain does not appear to be a joke, The racist menace? Muslims declare victory in fight over ‘anti-Islamic’ Lego. Either that, or it’s really well done.

Update 4-2-2013 — Via a reader, Twitchy reports that Lego is denying it gave in to pressure:

It’s got to be an April Fool’s joke. While I’m almost never surprised anymore, this would certainly take the cake for PC cave of the year. And there’s a ton of competition for that prize

Most Lego sets are actually only produced for a year or two. Stopping the selling of this set after two years (2012 to 2014) would actually be par for the course. It is very likely that this news isn’t tied to the protest at all, but people who protested the set merely interpreted the news that way.

Not that anyone’s watching this thread anymore, but it turns out that the set will be discontinued because it was always set to end its production run at the end of this year:
