“You broke the health care system, you own it” Tweet of the Day

“You broke the health care system, you own it” Tweet of the Day

    This is mightly rich.

Donna Brazile was a big defender of Obamacare, despite warnings that it would drive up insurance rates:

Guess who’s now complaining about private insurance rates rising?

You broke it, you own it.  As for the rest of us, we’re the victim, not you.

    (added) Yup:

    Donations tax deductible
to the full extent allowed by law.

You know she called the WH and was assured Obamacare had nothing to do with the increase in her health insurance premium, besides, I think it’s a bit much to expect the vice chair of the DNC to understand deep scientific concepts like cause and effect.

Wait till she learns that none of the available medical care payment systems are sustainable, not the traditional third-party system, not Obamacare, not single payer. Her head will explode. She’ll want elected officials to do something about it, pronto. You know, fix it with a big government program. Something.

What is that Mencken quote? Sits on Ace’s blog masthead? Oh yeah…

“Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black falg, and begin slitting throats.”

    ~ H.L. Mencken

*To the gubbermint apparatchik screening conservative posts whose eye may be caught by the hyperbolic call to figurative violence and order all my sharp items confiscated… molon labe, m-er f-er.

    Hey, Donna:

Life is hard. Life is very hard when you’re stupid.

    I love it.

To quote Donna: “Just got off the phone with my health care provider asking them to explain why my premium jumped up. No good answer”

There’s a perfectly good answer, though, there’s absolutely no one she will be able to contact who will tell her, no matter how important she thinks she is.

So let me do it, Donna. It’s because the healthcare providers are monopolies. It’s because they can do anything they want as long as they dress it up in healthcare-speak to a properly deputized bureaucrat who speaks healthcare, appointed by another faceless, similarly deputized healthcare speaking bureaucrat in a bureaucracy created by your government specifically for the purpose of speaking heathcare.

Here’s an example. Involved indirectly with (shackled by) Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, a high quality, full color, two sided, one page flier arrived in my mail recently announcing arrival of the “Blue to You” van. (Vehicle operating expense, lease expense. Wonder how many there are/will be?) Photos displayed a full size mini-motor home painted in Blue Cross colors, sporting complete logos and displays, and a well appointed, well equipped, well staffed interior.

What, Donna, you may ask does it do to help keep my premium cost down? Well, thankfully for us all, the answers were provided right there in blue (of course) and white.

“While visiting the van, you and your neighbors will be able to speak with a Blue to You advisor about finding a participating doctor in your plan and to schedule appointments.” (Wow, a Blue to You advisor. Think staffing – employees & salary, training expense plus the scheduling nightmares with doctors.)

“Attend educational seminars where we’ll provide information to help you get and stay healthy.” (Staffing, consulting, facility rent, public relations expense)

“Learn more about local wellness activities and initiatives in your neighborhood.” (Staffing, consulting)

“Receive giveaways and educational handouts.” (Staffing, gee-gaw, trinket, and printing expense)

    “And much more.” (Blank check)

“Touch screen computers located in the Blue to You van give you the opportunity to:”(IT, consulting expense – at least)

“Look up information on health care professionals and hospitals.” (data base maintenance, coordination staff)

“Watch educational health videos.” (Consulting, equipment, PR expense)

“Access health care reform information.” (Consulting expense – see and hear experts like Donna Brazille!)

“Get general information about Horizon Healthcare of New Jersey, Inc.” (Advertising expense – for the local monopoly!)

“Learn about the benefits of using Member Online Services.” (Self promotion, IT expense)

    Wait, there’s more.

“While on the Blue to You van, you’ll be able to print out health-related information on various topics that you can take with you.” (More computer, printing cost, etc.)

And finally, the answer to your question about why the increase in premium cost, justification for the increases, and who pays (that would be you, Donna). The following are the only words necessary to justify the entire boondoggle to your friends in Washington, DC., words that have nothing to do with either medicine or insurance.

“All activities are free (no, they aren’t) and open to everyone in the community.”

And the magic words of justification:
“The Blue to You program promotes healthy living by increasing knowledge, activity, and engagement.”

    Imagine this times fifty states.

[…] As William Jacobson rightly notes… You broke healthcare, you own it. […]

[…] Obamacare supporter upset with her new rates […]
