Hagel fails to beat filibuster on day of more troubling revelations

Hagel fails to beat filibuster on day of more troubling revelations

The Washington Free Beacon reported today about a speech Hagel gave in 2007 — as reported at the time by one of his supporters — that the State Department had become an “adjunct” to the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Hagel supporters are fuming, but he was a bad selection.  It’s not over, they can bring it up for another vote, but it’s time for this divisive and bad choice to step aside.

I fail to see why the Republican Senatorial Caucus has not thrown Murkowski bodily from the party, and said to her “Goodbye and good riddance, you are not welcome here.” Force her out, make her either register as an Independent or as a Democrat, and let us be done with her.

If we have any choice in the matter, could we instead have the U.S. President become an adjunct to the Israeli Prime Minister for about four years or so?

    wow! Hagel actually said that?!?

I had no idea how much he hated Israel. He seems to express his opinion on Israel all the time.

Seriously, pick someone else, Panetta I thought was pretty good, Gates was good as well. Surely there are more qualified people, unless of course Barry wants someone who shares his anti-Israel, anti-american exceptionalism views running the DOD, which hagel appears to do, based on everything he has said in the past.

John Tower was a former Senator who was filibustered and never got a confirmation vote for SecDef. So much for “unprecedented.”

“Hagel supporters are fuming” – anyone low enough to support that miscreant moron should inhale noxious fumes until they feel dizzy, and then make sure the garage door is locked.

It was a razor-thin victory and another vote is scheduled. The American Center for Law and Justice has a petition at http://aclj.org/us-constitution/anti-israel-hagel-nomination-being-forced-through-senate-hide-anti-israel-rhetoric
And speaking of Pope Benedict: http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/petrus-romanus-900-year-old-prophecy-says-next-pope-will-oversee-end-of-days
“…In 1139 A.D. the Catholic Saint Malachy was said to have experienced visions during a trip to Rome. He subsequently put these visions to paper and penned a document containing 112 short phrases purporting to describe all future popes that would head the Catholic Church. Though not a part of official Catholic dogma or church teachings, this Prophecy of the Popes is well known by Vatican officials and church scholars because it has been remarkably accurate about naming the last 111 heads of one of the world’s oldest and most widespread religions.
Now, according to prophecy, the 112th Pope will step up to head the Church, and he will be named Petrus Romanus, or Peter the Roman.

Whether you’re Catholic, Christian or not a religious person at all, the fact that a 900 year old prophecy is coming to a close is intriguing. And one way or the other, whether its predictions turn out to be true or not, the prophecy concludes with the next Pope…

Eerily, the prophecy describes the Catholic Church’s last Pontiff as overseeing a new era, and one that will be met with great difficulty and destruction…”
