Obama skipping big Chicago African-American parade, but in town for fundraisers

This Saturday, Chicago will hold its annual Bud Billiken Parade, “the oldest and largest African American parade in the country,” without its previously announced Grand Marshall President Barack Obama.

Organizers were surprised to learn in late June that he would be backing out; what is even more surprising is that Valerie Jarrett is sending the replacement, her staffer Michael Strautmanis.

It is quite a let-down for organizers of the parade, the theme of which is “Education: Built to Last; a Tribute to President Barack Obama,” a topic that appears to have been built around the expectation that the President would be taking part.

And communications have been confusing; the chairman of the parade reports that all communications had gone through the White House, but the cancellation was done through the campaign office.

What is confounding is that the President will actually be in Chicago this weekend for a series of swanky fundraisers, where $40,000 per person can get you within mingling distance of the President at his Kenwood home, and $5,000 gets you into Obama best friend Marty Nesbitt’s home. $1,000 gets you into the home of Barbara Bowman, the mother of Valerie Jarrett.

Obama was the Grand Marshall of the parade in 2007 and would have been the first sitting president to take part in the parade.

Perhaps he’ll surprise the disappointed organizers with an impromptu appearance. But at least Valerie Jarrett will be represented.

Watermelon? Really? Of all the things one could ding Obama for, you go with a watermelon joke?

We get it. owebama doesn’t like “my people” like Holder likes “my people.” Why not just say that owebama doesn’t like black people much, instead of resorting to watermelon jokes?

Read the post by Juba doobi! Just before my initial post. I note it has gotten no response. I’ll add the black dropout ,unemloyment and murder rates in Chicago and elsewhere. And you get upset over a watermelon referance only tangentally meant as a joke? Its a shortcut metaphore for all his screwed up feelings for his black half. I repeat , Obama does not like watermelon! Further he doent want to be in Chicago in August among thousands of sweating black people. Hell ,he skipped an air conditioned NAACP appearance !

I got your point the first time. I agree, except it’s other “blacks” he dislikes (well, he may like Louis “beer summit” Gates and Eric “my people” Holder), not himself, because most of them are too low class for him. He’s a narcissist of the nth degree.

1). How do you know he doesn’t like watermelon?

2). Do we have a ‘rolleyes’ emoticon around here?

I can see for security reasons why he might not be able to march in the parade but the status of the surrogate has to be commensurate with the honor being bestowed. Here that means someone whose name would be recognized by most of those in the crowd. A few Chicago political insiders will know Strautmanis.

Obama has never been a very good politician. He’s always been carried across the finish line by lawyers or the media.

As for why more blacks don’t vote Republican read your own comments. Then ask how welcome they must feel.

      Yeeeeeup.

They feel just like us Tea Party conservatives feel in Republican company. Both the GOP and Democratic Party have become a small culst of obnoxious “party over principles” dead-enders who don’t believe ANYONE belongs in the party. Voters keep registering away from both yet the plan seems to be to rebuild the parties by insulting as many people as possible mainly because they are too “stupid” to see how much smarter the dead-enders are.

These uber-partisans have a deeply engrained sense of entitlement to our votes because “this is the most important election in history”. Go figure. I wonder how they earned the moniker Stupid Party?

So you fundamentally refute what Prof. Bill stands for?

And I distinctly recall you supporting the GOP candidate for your Kulhifornia district.

But you also say things like…

“However, there is one very important thing that the OWSers have right which we Tea Party folks are resistant too [sic] and that [is] the OWSers are right about the 1%.”

Which really makes me wonder if you are not here under a false flag.

My personal troll just refuses to accept that people who comment know best what they are trying to say. To relentlessly stalk someone as Raggie has done to me for years only to slime everything I post (completely out of context with the subject of the thread) with the same old lies no matter how many times the record has been set straight is an abuse of one’s posting privileges. Is there anyone else here who is tired of this dreary lying obfuscator?

Raggie has been booted off of Michelle Malkin (hard to do) and Reihl World View (almost impossible to do) for pulling this same tired RINO act. How long before he gets booted off of here? I figure when these threads get toxic enough, the professor will pull the plug. Otherwise, these threads will look like Riehl’s did before he took action.

Guess who was one of the main targets of the warning below:

          https://legalinsurrection.com/2012/07/warning-to-commenters/

The same thing happened at Malkin and Riehl but had no effect until Raggie got his sorry butt booted for being the most obnoxious commentor on these threads. Do I need to post those links too Raggie?

Knock it off. All you are doing is ruining these threads for everyone else. Capiche?

Would you please stop saying ‘us’ Tea Party conservatives and go with ‘this’ Tea Party conservative?

The more I read your posts the less this Tea Party conservative agrees with you. Speak for yourself.

Move over, make more room under the bus.

I’d bet money he’ll make an appearance….can’t pass up an opportunity to be the savior. It’s all by design, I swear it is.
