    Dear Supreme Court Justices

    Dear Supreme Court Justices

Please read this bumper sticker before rendering your decision.

From Linda, taken at the Riverwood mansion, Nashville, on June 23:

“The right to be left alone—the most comprehensive of rights, and the right most valued by a free people.”— Louis Brandeis, dissenting, OLMSTEAD v. U.S., 277 U.S. 438 (1928).  It shouldn’t just apply to criminal defendants.

Here is the issue for me. I like being responsible for myself, not for the bad habits or misfortunes of others. “If I end up bankrupt or dead, it is on me, not someone else. I can accept that. Please don’t burden me with your problems. I have enough of my own, and BTW, I don’t need your help because I know it is not your problem, it is mine.” I guess it is that simple. Some of the changes are good, many are bad. I have always been an incrementalist. Most of the bad feelings on both sides could have been eliminated by an incrementalist approach to the problem.

I add to the thought of the bumber sticker:

. . . and, I very much would like for my ancestors to have them as well.
