I think this is one of those goose/gander things.

    Via Roll Call:

With less than four and a half months until Election Day, Senate Republicans are shutting off the bipartisan spigot when it comes to confirming President Barack Obama’s nominees to the nation’s top courts and will present a unified front against his circuit court picks through November.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) made the decision to blockade nominations official Wednesday when he informed his colleagues that he would invoke the “Thurmond Rule” from now until after the elections.

Named after the late Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) — and alternately called the “Leahy Rule” by some Republicans after Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) — the doctrine holds that within six months of a presidential election, the opposition party can, and typically does, refuse to allow votes on circuit court judges.

I know this will shock you, but Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe Won’t Abide By ‘Thurmond Rule’.

It’s mid-June, in less than 5 months we may (hopefully) find out Obama is One and Done.  Yet we should push through federal Appeals Court judges who will serve for life in these waning months? If there is someone who is non-ideological and truly acceptable to both parties, then put him/her through.  But allow Obama to pack the Courts at this late date?

Let’s see if the cowardly lions of the GOP hacks have what it takes to fight, now that their prey has been wounded — by the rest of us.

    What a bunch of bums.

I only hope the name “Boehner” becomes synonymous with pathetic incompetence (much like the name “Obama” will).

What about recess apppointments? Isn’t there at least 1 major recess this year- which gives Obama the power to appoint while they gavel out?…like he did over the holidays.

Recess appointments expire after a year (as I recall), so even if the President Recess-appoints somebody, their time in the seat is limited. And if its a political appointment instead of a judgeship or such, they will go away Jan 11 on the inauguration of the new President.

Very few people will volunteer to serve for a scant six months, it brings to mind an ad : “SS Titanic now hiring, wonderful opportunities, limited duration employment…”

How else would they get their names in the newspaper unless they compromised? Obama wants to spend 30 trillion on aid to downtrodden “choom” friends these two ladies hold his feet to the fire and allow him only twenty trillion.
