67% of voters say Obama full of politics on gay marriage

67% of voters say Obama full of politics on gay marriage

From The NY Times, Poll Sees Obama Gay Marriage Support Motivated by Politics:

Most Americans suspect that President Obama was motivated by politics, not policy, when he declared his support for same-sex marriage, according to a new poll released on Monday, suggesting that the unplanned way it was announced shaped public attitudes.

Sixty-seven percent of those surveyed by The New York Times and CBS News since the announcement said they thought that Mr. Obama had made it “mostly for political reasons,” while 24 percent said it was “mostly because he thinks it is right.” Independents were more likely to attribute it to politics, with nearly half of Democrats agreeing.

His shiny new political object isn’t so shiny after all.

I see the makings of a major political disaster not because people disagree with Obama’s position on gay marriage (although many do), but because it revealed once again the cynical money-hungry permanent campaigner and self-absorved politician he is.

He doesn’t care about gay marriage unless it gets him up the ladder. He doesn’t care about religion unless it gets him up the ladder – the reality is he doesn’t care about anything but himself.

He’ll SAY anything. Ever so cynically, he must laugh at night that people drink the kool-aid.

IF he had run on his “beliefs” or true lack thereof, he would never have been elected. So there is HOPE after all. People voted for what they thought was a moderate, religious but not too, family man who shared their own high ideals and aspirations. The nation will not vote for that creature he is now revealed to be.

That he is a train-wreck has to hurt.

I’ve always said that Obama wears religion like a suit. He wears different suits depending on the audience. Gays get their own special new Obama suit. The only difference is that it is new.

    O/T

Since there is no appropriate thread to talk about the “Video of the Day” clips I’ll just stick this here:

Nice Tremeloes clip. There are few things as good as a bouncy 60’s pop tune.

Notice, that for all publicity over it, all Obama really said was this is his personal opinion. He’s not committing to trying to repeal DOMA, he still believes it is a matter for the states, and he won’t take any steps to force states to recognize same-sex marriages from other states. He gave them NOTHING except his opinion. That’s it.

The gay lobby and the media, it turns out, are cheap dates.
