Repeal of sodomy, bestiality ban sparks fight on Defense bill:

As the final Defense authorization bill gets hammered out in conference committee, one surprising issue is riling both social conservatives and animal rights activists: the repeal of a ban on sodomy and bestiality….

News of the bestiality repeal has sparked conservative groups like the Family Research Council to warn of a “campaign to radicalize the country from the Pentagon out,” even if the intent to repeal bestiality wasn’t there. The group likened the repeal to last year’s end of the military’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” rule on gays serving openly in the military….

Lester Kinsolving, who writes for conservative website WorldNetDaily, asked about the issue at a White House briefing Monday, prompting press secretary Jay Carney to say: “Let’s get to something more serious.”

That response, however, drew a rebuke from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

“We were upset to note that you flippantly addressed the recently approved repeal of the military ban on bestiality,” the group wrote in a letter to Carney. “With respect, this is no laughing matter. Our office has been flooded with calls from Americans who are upset that this ban has been repealed — and for good reason.”

Now tell me again, why are we removing a ban on bestiality?  I just want to know who’s on the other side of the argument.

They’re repealing it so that the UCMJ can allow sodomy, because the Democrats who control the military and most of the federal government believe with every fiber of their being that sodomy is natural, right, and to be celebrated…and that anyone who thinks otherwise ought to be punished, re-educated, or face some kind of legal sanction.

    Any questions?

Bingo! The two non-negotiables on the left are sodomy and abortion. Supporting Dems necessarily implies supporting these.

Did they forget pederasty? NAMBLA and Sandusky will one day be normalized, too. Thanks Dems!

Smithee: interesting article, especially when the reporter contacted the gay rights orgs. They seem to reject it not out of a well defined principle that zoophilia is fundamentally wrong, but that it would be bad politics.

BINGO! You know why they can’t come down like a ton of bricks and say “My favorite kind of sex should be legal, but their type shouldn’t”? Because it would be a tacit admission that they accept the concept of common standards of decency. In other words, they would be admitting that there IS a point at which a line ought to be drawn, and that is the same thing that people who think sodomy should be illegal are saying — they simply disagree about where that line ought to exist.

Removing bestiality must be a pre-requisite to recruiting more Muslims?

Not exactly, but it will be used as a recruiting tool for Jihadists. Everybody is laughing at this story but there is a deadly aspect to it.

Our enemies, the Jihadists or Militant Radical Islamists or whatever the Obama Administration dares not call them, are waging a holy war against us. Their propaganda relentlessly portrays our society as satanic and evil. So when we cheer immorality, cheapen ourselves by celebrating perversity, promote and endorse things that are universally considered sickening and abhorrent by even our own traditions, this can be highlighted by the Jihad Boys as proof of our evil nature. You see, they are the ones defending honor, goodness, morality, while we defend sodomy. Idealistic, misguided young men and women throughout the Muslim world see something as crackbrained as this and say, “You know, Imam, I think you’re right. Allahu Akbar!”

Repealing this is a no-brainer. Even Justice Thomas, who voted against Lawrence v Texas, said that a law against sodomy is “uncommonly silly” and that if he were a legislator he would vote against it. And really, if banning sodomy is either unconstitutional or silly, then what argument can be made for banning bestiality? All the arguments for such a ban apply equally to sodomy.
