They took the teleprompter, the whole …

teleprompter (language warning).  No really, they did:

NBC12 has uncovered one of those stories that makes you think: “How in the world does that happen?!”  A truck filled with President Obama’s podiums and audio equipment was stolen in Henrico just days before his visit to Chesterfield

From IowaHawk, TOTUS unshackled (another language warning):

And I’ll give myself Tweet of the Day:

    “I wonder if Michelle knows”

I think she keep it in her pocket anyway, Neo. ;-p

As humorous as this is, I think we are missing something very important. If someone can drive off unnoticed with the truck carrying the presidential stage equipment – teleprompter, lights, sound eqpmt, etc. – they could have just as easily planted a bomb, listening device, anthrax or other poison, etc., inside the equipment and just left it.

This seems to me a monumental security failure.

Did the truck really contain podiums? I don’t think so. I think whatever location he’s going to provides a podium, and I don’t see why one would ever want more than one. Now it might have held lecterns; those are a lot more portable, and I can see why the president might want his own.

Seriously, I cannot understand why so many people call a lectern a podium. This isn’t rocket science: A podium is a thing you stand on with your pods; the same things that you take to a podiatrist or a chiropodist, that monopods have only one of, and that arthropods have many joints on. A lectern is what you stand at and lect from.

First the OWS crowd who wants to steal and thieve off of other people’s productivity, complains about their own members stealing and thieving their private property. The laughs and irony meter jumped off the charts on that one as who would have guessed that a movement dedicated to stealing wealth would have in its assemblage those who didn’t care about the particulars as to whom they were redistributing wealth from.
And now we have the Alinsky crowd stealing Obama’s teleprompters leaving him speechless. What a red letter day.

I’m hopeful that there are many trucks carrying equipement that looks like TOTUS, but this is a diversion. The crooks made off with an imposter. The real TOTUS is safe.

Of course, the government would not reveal this system, so as to retain tight security and future flexibility.
