    Libya, the end

    Libya, the end

Based on news reports and live coverage from SkyNews and others, it appears that Tripoli is about to fall to rebel forces.

Whether it is hours or a day or two, it seems on the cusp.

Updates:  Things seem to be moving fast.  Israel Matzav has video of celebrations in Tripoli, and there are various news reports that Qaddafi has fled to Algeria and one of his sons has been captured.

But, be cautious of reports, a Fox News correspondent in Libya reports that Qaddafi just went on television and is calling on tribes to march on Tripoli.

Al-Jazeera’s live television feed from Libya is here.

About a decade ago I read a forecast (not a prophecy ) that the big battle between Islam & Christianity would be fought in Africa.

Ghaddafi was a believer & facilitator of Pan Africanism. Indeed hundreds of thousands of African worked & set up businesses there. Locals have the reputation of being spoilt -enjoying significant state welfare eg free housing free this free that. This was evident in a number of African construction workers seen being murdered on youtube at the onset.

In Libya Arab now rules. There will be no return of Africans.

South Africa has lost its moral authority. They gave into to the Muslims.

There are only two countries in the Middle East where the leadership is so irredeemably dangerous and out of control that it is worth our taking the risk- the gamble- of whoever would take over, sight unseen. Libya is not one of them.

Does this mean that the recession is over…?

President Obama prefaces his comments on July jobs numbers by noting that 2011 has been “tumultuous year” thus far. Obama mentioned the Arab Springs across the middle east…

Libyan rebels have taken control of the capital Tripoli’s Green Square, as opposition forces claim Colonel Gaddafi’s regime has ended.

“Sky’s special correspondent Alex Crawford, who was with rebels as they entered Green Square, said: “Guns are being fired in celebration.

“They are wanting to show how relieved they are. They’re tearing down all the Gaddafi posters and pulling down all the green national flags.”

Major celebrations are also taking place in the centre of Libya’s second city, Benghazi.

Libya’s Charge D’affairs Mahmoud Nacua told Sky News: “It is a great night.
“It is a great victory for our brave fighters. The Gaddafi era has ended. Now we are starting a new era. It will be very different from the 42 years under Gaddafi.”

It comes after the International Criminal Court confirmed to Sky News that Saif Al-Islam, Colonel Gaddafi’s son, has been detained.” Sky News
