Huge Obama birthday fundraiser day after debt ceiling deadline

Huge Obama birthday fundraiser day after debt ceiling deadline

Maybe this is why he picked the arbitrary August 2 deadline to increase the debt ceiling.

He doesn’t want to miss his August 3 birthday fundraiser by having to spend time at work dealing with the likes of Eric Cantor.  Hey, there are priorities and then there are priorities.

Which means that on August 3, the very day Obama says he may decide not to send out social security checks, Obama gladly will be pocketing checks from campaign donors.

Via The Chicago Sun Times (h/t Rusty):

President Obama returns to Chicago on Aug. 3 to mark his 50th birthday with fund-raisers at the Aragon Ballroom, with tickets ranging from $50 a person to $35,800 per couple, which includes VIP seating at a “Birthday Concert” where celebs will be performing and a dinner with the president.

The fundraiser at the Aragon, the historic ballroom in Uptown, will be one of the biggest third quarter events, expected to draw in national supporters. Obama’s 50th birthday is Aug. 4….

The event is multi-tiered: There is a concert at 4 p.m.–Foster said songstress Jennifer Hudson may perform–for the basic $50 contribution, of which there is supposed to be “limited availability.”

For $10,000, a person gets a souvenir photo with Obama at a reception and preferred seating at the concert. For $1,000 a person gets seated in a “premium section” with a “hosted bar.” A general admission ticket is $200.

The events are a benefit for the Obama Victory Fund 2012, a joint Obama 2012 re-election campaign/Democratic National Committee fund.

Is there anything in his life which is not a fundraising opportunity?

Update:   Via JammieWearingFool, ABC is reporting that the party will go on only if the debt ceiling issue is resolved.  Sure, now they’re saying it because he’s been called out on it.

Who in their right mind would pay for the honor of attending this bash? Who throws $35,000 at a guy who’s already slid this far down a rat hole? There’s no longer a valid expectation of a ROI for the “donation”. This is a terrible idea. At any price.

The fleas that depend on the rat to get them where they need to go in order to spread the plague.

I don’t think Obama has ever stopped running for the presidency in 2008. He certainly has not been a leader, and all his efforts are on thwarting the Republicans rather than developing a plan to recover the US.

Good thing Obama has a highly paid political team trolling the blogs….paid for by us-otherwise, they might have missed the irony…

We could have had a “Let them eat cake” moment…literally-

Obama will have his party…..he just needs to channel his inner Job.

Can you imagine the contortions that take place in the minds of people who still want to believe in this guy and are willing to support him? I can almost understand the cynical businessman, like Immelt, kissing the ring to get ahead and keep networking, but for anyone that isn’t a money or power whore, doing stuff like this has to be getting to the level of dry heaves.

Oh joy! Hotair tells us Obama is having another press conference tomorrow at 11 am. Will the conciliatory or the angry wagging-finger Obama appear tomorrow? Will he wear a comfy sweater and tell us to eat beets this time? Or will he come out guns ablazin’, ready to get in Americans’ faces?

    Should be interesting.
