Although the precise date is not clear, calls have gone out for anti-Israel activists to converge on Israel on or about June 8, in anticipation of a large flotilla of ships trying to break the military sea blockade of Gaza later in June, and additional attempts to crash through Israel’s borders.
The details are provided at the website of the The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, including:
An initiative is scheduled for June 8, 2011, a month after Naksa Day to send hundreds of activists to Ben-Gurion Airport. They are supposed come from various countries around the world, including Germany. After a protest at the airport, they are expected to go to Judea and Samaria for solidarity meetings with Palestinians. There are 15 organizations planning the propaganda event, most of them territory-based and Palestinian. The most prominent organization is the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), which specializes in obstructing IDF activities in the territories. The ISM sends activists and volunteers from foreign countries to the weekly demonstrations in Bila’in, Ni’lin and other friction points in Judea and Samaria, and its leaders hold central positions in the flotilla project.
The flotilla later in June will try overwhelm Israeli forces and/or provoke a confrontation which will be used for propaganda purposes. As reported by The Christian Science Monitor:
The day before the one-year anniversary of the international flotilla that aimed to break the Israeli naval blockade on the Gaza Strip, international activists announced plans for another flotilla at the end of June.
The organizer of the flotilla will once again be the Turkish Islamic group IHH (The Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief), and the Mavi Marmara, the lead ship in the 2010 flotilla, will participate. According to Agence France-Presse, 1,500 people from about 100 different countries will be on board the ships, which will carry humanitarian aid, medical equipment, school supplies, and construction materials.
As discussed here last year for the first Gaza flotilla, breaking the sea blockade is of critical importance to Iran and Hamas, because the ability of Iran to smuggle large weapons systems through tunnels between Egypt and Gaza is limited. Only ships can carry the quantify and quality of weapons Iran seeks to convey to Hamas as its forward operating base against Israel.
These are not all useful idiots. In fact the flotilla is being organized by Turkish Islamist groups which must understand full well the importance of breaking the sea blockade.
All in all, expect June to be a hot month in the Middle East, and it will get to the boiling point as the Palestinians try to incite violence for propaganda purposes in the run up to the September General Assembly meeting in which the Palestinians will attempt another vote seeking to push Israel back to the 1967 borders, the re-division of Jerusalem, and the elimination of the Jewish state piece-by-piece.
Israel is gearing up for the battle, and its supporters in the U.S. and the blogosphere should be as well.DONATE
