“Barack the Uniter” Didn’t Last Long

“Barack the Uniter” Didn’t Last Long

The appetizer from someone of enormous intellect:

“As president, Barack Obama would be a genuine uniter.”

Now on to the main course:

I noted yesterday, to the surprise of many readers, that Obama’s 60 Minutes appearance was his best yet, and that the bin Laden killing was Obama’s finest moment to date.

I even pointed out that Obama gave (some) credit to prior administrations, which is not his usual style.  He spoke nice words, with none of the (domestic) enemies-list verbiage which has been his stock in trade.

    That didn’t last long.

In a speech on immigration today, Obama lashed out at and mocked Republicans, saying Republicans wanted to build an alligator infested moat at the border:

“We have gone above and beyond what was requested by the very Republicans who said they supported broader reform as long as we got serious about enforcement,” Obama said. “But even though we’ve answered these concerns, I gotta say I suspect there are still going to be some who are trying to move the goal posts on us one more time.”

“Maybe they’ll need a moat,” Obama said mockingly to laughter from the crowd. “Maybe they’ll want alligators in the moat.”

I thought this Twitter reaction to the speech by Rory Cooper of The Heritage Foundation was appropriate:

As was this tweet from Tim Carney of The Washington Examiner:

I don’t know about you, but between the sleazy League of Women Voters ad against Scott Brown, and Obama’s alligator moat speech, I think I’m getting motivated again.

Conservatives are playing this wrong. Convince them illegals are TEA Partiers and there will be a moat dug in a week. Gators? It'll be sharks with fricken' laser beams.

(sigh) For some reason I really wanted to work in a reference to Balaam's ass somewhere. Just couldn't make it fit.

Amazing that this punk is President of the United States.

He just won the California vote. Wait, that would be racist. In 2112 we'll need all the help we can get from the rest of you.

This linked story was posted 2:32 hrs ago and will in the minutes have 42,000 comments. It looks to me like there are at least a few more than the regular conservative posters.

IMO, our country is getting tired of the illegal immigrants getting all the benefits from the Administration while American citizens get less and less.

Today, following the President's philosophy of never letting a crisis go to waste (Obama's pandering amnesty speech in El Paso today), the Texas Congress passed a bill making sanctuary cities in Texas illegal. It also gives the State Attorney General the ability to haul into court those politicians of sanctuary cities if they refuse to follow both state, and federal, immigration laws or if they fail to enforce them.

You can't say we Texans don't have a sense of humor.

Perhaps Obama can come back to Texas for the governor's signing of our recently passed Voter ID law.
